Description
Using vocal and songwriting techniques rooted in the traditions of Soul Music, students will learn how to express and celebrate themselves through song. In this workshop, participants will learn about soul music pioneers from the 1970’s, the genre’s historical roots and its ties to the African-American fight for civil rights. They’ll also see soul’s impact on American culture today and create their own soul music for this generation and beyond, using their individual and collective voices.
