Program: Workshop: Dancing Ourselves

Heidi Latsky Dance’s Education Program, “Dancing Ourselves” was designed to enhance an individual school’s curriculum needs through classes incorporating music, self-expressive dance, social interaction, and self–reflection. Created for use with students in grades 1 to 12 the underlying objective is to provide a strong model of tolerance and acceptance of both themselves and others based on HLD’s core values: the appreciation of differences among individuals, acceptance of all people, and the promotion of empathy. This is achieved through a residency class series of assignments culminating in a dance performance created by the students. The number of classes in the series can be adapted to each school’s needs. Historically we have offered the choice of 3, 6 or 15 consecutive weekly classes.
